Have you ever felt that you just need to do something right now, even when other people offered to help you if you could just wait a minute?
Well that happened to me last Sunday night when I had the sudden urge to do our laundry. TJ said he would go with me in 30 minutes and I initially said ok then said, no I need to go now!

I left the RV park not knowing where I was going and pulled over upon seeing a woman standing next to her van at the entrance of Bonner County Fair Grounds which was where we were staying. She told me of the nearest Laundromat, which was just down the street and I went on my way.
I walked in the door and was greeted by a man, Josh, holding a baby. He asked, “Are you here to do some laundry tonight?” I, looking confused replied, “Yes.” He said, “Well, today is your lucky day. We are from the church and we are paying for your laundry. Just find one of us with the payment cards and we will cover the cost of all of your laundry.”
My mind was racing and I knew that I wanted to talk to the person in charge to find out more. I prepared all of my laundry in washers and Josh came back over and asked if I was set to go and he paid for all of my loads of laundry! What a blessing. I just kept thinking….. I am an excellent receiver. I will allow them to bless me with this gift and I will graciously accept the support.
3 years ago, when we first hit the road this opportunity would have brought me to tears. 3 years ago, finances were tight as we set off to fulfill a dream and a calling. I thought that the best thing that I could do to support the church was to write this blog and provide awareness. Here is the story and a link for you to contribute to Laundry Love.

This information was provided by Kathy who was the woman in charge that evening.

“Laundry Love was created by a woman down in California who ran into some people who were going to work in dirty clothes. She asked them why their clothes weren’t clean for work and they replied that they needed to pay rent and have money for food. There wasn’t any money left to pay for laundry. Her heart went out to these people and rather than be sad and do nothing, she took action and created Laundry Love. One of the members of the church in California moved up here to Sandpoint, ID and started the program here.”

They would love to expand this idea to other churches and continue to provide for their own community by supporting them 1 time per month, the first Sunday of the month from 5pm-7pm. Please consider donating to this wonderful cause.

I spoke with some of the people who were doing their laundry and this is what they had to say,

“There is a woman who has a very sick son with bowel issues and they would have to put the laundry on the porch and wash it outside. They lived off the grid and had 5-6 children. She found out about Laundry Love and came in with tears streaming down her face. She was so thankful for our support.”

Another woman that I met, Ann, shows up each month with bedding that she has collected from garage sales and thrift stores. She washes it up, folds it and donates what she doesn’t need to the homeless or new moms who need the children’s blankets.  She called it People just helping People.

A member of the church, Jenna, told me that this church also provides free dinners for people on Monday nights. She loves her church!

The church is able to collect around $400 per month for Laundry Love by taking collections form the congregation! My hope is that some of you will send a few dollars their way and brighten their day! Like I said, this service would have brought me to tears 3 years ago and perhaps you know what I mean or can imagine what it might be like to need some Laundry Love!

Wanted! Road Warrior 420

We have wanted to upgrade our Rig since our first winter in Florida, 3 years ago. The Thousand Trails park that we visited had Rigs for sale and I would walk down the path to the Toy Haulers each Saturday and Sunday morning with my cup of coffee and sit on the couch and pretend that it was my home.

Don’t get me wrong, we love our Rig and it has been so great traveling the US in our home on wheels but at some point our twin boys grew a foot or so and we have just outgrown our little Rexhall Aerbus. The boys need their own room. They are teenagers now! They need a bed that is a bed not a bench. I need a place to sit with a table for my computer. Those of you that have been on Hangouts with me or that have seen some of my videos, you know I do my work in the back on my bed. I need a dedicated desk.

So…. we have come to the point where we can afford the payments on a Dually Crew Cab Pick-up Truck and Toy Hauler. The question is???? Will we qualify for a loan? We have been waiting and waiting to hear back from our loan office and he has been out of town. Well, we were all excited today to hear from him, I have called 3 times and have left 2 messages. Finally, I called the main desk and they said he is still out! I am totally happy that he is enjoying some well-deserved time off, but I am so anxious to hear from him!!!!

Instead I have the pictures to look at and continue my dreaming. We have gone from Cyclone to Road Warrior. 390 to 415 to 425 to 420! I have connected with the designer of the Heartland Toy Haulers and have had conversations with him. We are as ready as we will ever be. Now is the time. We stopped by a dealership on our way home from the Hoopfest yesterday so I could take some photos for my vision board. This will be ours…. someday.

What is on your vision board?
Wish us luck!
Much love to all of you.

Spokane, Washington Hoopfest June 27-28

We spent the early afternoon in the sweltering heat as spectators of Hoopfest, the city’s three-on-three basketball tournament.

image

All ages can participate in what is called the largest tournament in the world. More than 7000 teams participate and the streets are transformed into more than 450 basketball courts.

The boys enjoyed a snow cone as we walked through the downtown streets of Spokane, Washington.

Aside from the heat, we had a great day!

Have a super Sunday!
