Promote your Business as a Vendor

Promote your Business as a Vendor

By, Jewels Muller

One way to market your business is to have a vendor booth. First you need to decide if you are interested in traveling or staying in your hometown. If you would rather stay close to home, do some research on the annual events and activities. Find out the costs and procedure for applying for a vendor booth. You can then look into the workshops and trade shows that take place close by. You may also find opportunities at the festivals, music concerts, school, bazaars, and church gatherings.

Take some time to identify the purpose of your vendor booth. Are you selling something tangible? Are you selling an online product or coaching program? Are you promoting upcoming events of your own? Make sure you know what you want to sell and how you will go about selling it. Have everything you need to make the complete sale or a system to follow up as soon as the vendor show is over.

What can you do to attract people to your booth? I have seen giveaways, drawings, candy, contests, samples, free items, swag bags and engaging activities. Do what works best for you and ties in with your business. If you are selling flavored macadamia nuts; having someone walk around with samples is a wonderful way to attract people to your booth. (I know, because I purchased 4 bags the last time I tried a sample.)

Follow up is often ignored but remains to be one of the most important things to ensure success as a vendor. If you gather names and emails for a drawing, make sure to enter them into a system, send out an email notifying everyone as to who won the drawing, and remind them about your products and services.

I find it helpful to have a checklist when preparing for vendor events. I hope you find this helpful as well.

Guest Blogger Debbie Fong Kho Dangers of Using Essential Oils

Guest Blogger Debbie Fong Kho Dangers of Using Essential Oils

Essential oils offer a range of health, beauty and natural home cleaning benefits.
But, beware, before you apply undiluted essential oil directly on to your skin or ingest the oils, because it’s natural, doesn’t mean it’s safe.
1.  Photosensitive oils are generally the citrusy oils. Increases your chance of sunburn within short among of sun exposure.  Additionally, for your acne skin applying these citrusy oils may cause increase irritation or inflammation with acne.
 * lemon
 * lime
 * grapefruit
 * orange
 * bergamot
2.  Pregnancy or nursing moms.  The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA), suggest pregnancy women not to use these essential oils.
 * wintergreen
 * sage
 * mugwort
 * tarragon
 * birch
 * aniseed
 * camphor
 * hyssop
 * parsley
 * pennyroyal
 * tansy
 * thuja
 * wormwood
 * peppermint
3.  Medication Interactions.  Any type of medications always consult with a qualified, professional aromatherapist before the use of any essential oils.
4.  Children or babies.  This I’ve heard numerous occasions, using essential oils on crying, colic, sick babies or young children.  Wintergreen, eucalyptus, rosemary and peppermint should never be used as they can actually slow breathing, or even stop with those babies who may have respiratory problems.  Treat essential oils like you would any type of medicine…keep them away from children.
5.  Essential oils and pets.  Pennyroyal, tea tree oil are used on pets for fleas, but it’s toxic to animals kidney and liver.  Can cause a slow onset of organ failure.
6.  Ingesting essential oils.  In drinking water, salad dressing, cooking or using oils as a detox are all highly dangerous.  Could burn the esophagus, cause a build up of toxicity or even fatality.
7.  Essential oil and skin.  Using undiluted essential oil on skin can cause blisters, rash or burnt skin.
The rule of thumb is the radio of dilution is 3-5 drops of essential oils to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil.  Carrier oils are jojoba, coconut, grape seed, avocado or almond oil.
Be safe, be smart with essential oils.

Are you ready to make a commitment to yourself?

empower womenAre you ready to make a commitment to yourself?

During our first Chicks Connect meeting in Lake Oswego, Oregon, I asked the group to introduce themselves and share with us how the group could help them professionally and personally. They had no problem stating their name, describing the type of product or service they provide but then each of the 12 women got stuck. What do you mean personally? One woman shared that we could meet her in the evening for coffee to discuss business. Another woman shared that she needed more referrals for her business, and yet another talked about her interest in finding someone to help her work in her business. They had the hardest time talking about anything except business. No one had ever asked them, “How can we help you personally?” Many women spend the majority of their lives helping others; be it children, extended family, husbands, aging parents, ill relatives, and friends; but when it comes to their personal needs and how to ask for help, they were stumped.

Chicks Connect provides a safe platform for women to share their professional, as well as, personal needs with the group. The community of Chicks is there with a focus on Connecting women, getting them into positive Action- all on a foundation of Love and Support. We want you to be the best YOU, you can be. With a little coaching the women got into the flow of personal versus professional needs and amazing things started to happen.

One Chick discussed some frustration with her teenage son and another Chick said, “Let’s have coffee, mine are in college now and I can totally relate.” The next week they both shared about the lovely time they had together on a “Chick Chat” and the Chick felt super supported and no longer felt alone in her issues with her son. Another Chick stated that she really wanted a running tread mill for her home, but it would need to fold up easily as she didn’t have a lot of room. Another Chick responded, “I have one that you can have, you just have to come and pick it up.” Some of the Chicks wanted to lose weight, one wanted some accountability so that she would read two chapters in a book for pleasure, a few others wanted more social activities and some even to find a life partner. We set out to structure our group so that FUN activities would take place each month. The Fun Chicks were born at this meeting along with the Chick with a Bic. Women are helpful, creative, loving and super smart. Let’s work together to help one another be the best we can be.

Even in business we need to know and practice asking for help, like the Chick who was dealing with computer issues for the last 10 days and she is on her computer for her business as a graphic designer. When she expressed her frustration with her computers, another Chick came to the rescue with a hard drive. There is a lot of power and energy in a group of Connected Chicks working with one another out of love and support.

Are you ready to make a commitment to yourself?

Are you ready to do LIFE at 100%?

Are you ready to boost your business? Your relationships? Your Fun??

If so, what steps are you prepared to take today?

What areas of your life need the most attention?

Where could you use support from other people?

I want you to spend some time thinking about yourself….

We are often so busy worrying about others; doing for others, that we forget what we really even like.

What brings you happiness, fulfillment, joy?

What would you do for a full day if you could plan every minute doing whatever you wanted to do?

What would be the perfect date night?

What charity would you support if you had wealth beyond your wildest dreams?

What would you teach to others?

What other questions would you ask yourself?

Take time to reflect each day and set your plans for the next. Create a gratitude list and remember to be grateful for just being you, right where you are, at this very moment in time.
Chicks Connect can help you to be the best YOU, you can be.

Dare to Know Why….

Yellow padDare to know Why…

I posed this Dare on my Facebook wall this morning to see who was up for the challenge. I also Dare YOU!

“I dare you…. Take 20 minutes today, a pen, and a yellow notepad. Ask yourself Why you are doing what you are doing. Then ask Why again. Keep writing and writing and writing. Keep asking why, deeper why, even deeper why. Do this for at least 20 minutes. I dare you! Let me know if you are up for the dare. I will share my results in my blog later this afternoon. Who’s up for the challenge? I would love to read your results. What action steps will you take from here??”

As promised, here are my results…. Again, I would love to hear yours in the comments or you can send me a PM or post them right in the comments on the Facebook Post by Clicking Here…

During times in my life when I needed support and hope, women were there for me. They listened, held me up, set me straight, and provided a safe place for me to share my feelings. A place where I could be the REAL me. The vulnerable, exposed, and hurt me.

These same women supported me, encourage me to keep doing the next right thing, and celebrated me with each positive growth step I would take.

No jealously, competition, or judgement. Simply unconditional love, support, honesty, and friendship. They truly wanted what was best for me. They wanted me to be the ultimate BEST version of myself.

As I met women in my daily life, I realized that not all women had this loving support. I would hear things like,

“I don’t like other women.”

“I don’t have women friends, they are backstabbing.”

“I can’t trust other women so I mainly hang out with men or stick to myself.”

I was left asking myself, “What do other women do? How do they make it through life without this support, love, and a safe place for them to be real? Who is celebrating these women as they accomplish amazing things every day? Who even notices them?”

My heart would ache for these women. For years I would go on with my own busy life, continuously meeting these women, who upon first meeting me face to face, would open up and share something that they never shared with anyone else. Why me? Why do they feel safe with me? What does all of this mean?

I knew that many of these women didn’t have the support they needed. I knew that many of these women put themselves LAST on the To Do list; if even at all. I knew that many of these women had a voice that wasn’t being heard. I knew that many of these women had a story that needed to be told and they needed a safe place to share that story. I knew that many of these women had gifts that weren’t being shared because they were stuck in fear and lack of confidence. I knew that many of these women needed tools and skills to transition into the new world of computers and felt lost and confused. I knew that many of these women needed to feel loved. I knew that many women needed to be touched with gentle heart to heart hugs.

I knew these women and I later knew that my calling was to provide a space for them to join together in support, safety, growth and celebration of one another. I knew that by providing a structure and a community these women would thrive. These women would be empowered. These women would do amazing things for themselves, their sister chicks, their families, their communities, and the world.

The women of Chicks Connect are confident and they show up in the world  in a Big Way because of the support of their Sister Chicks. Because they have other women Celebrating their success in life and business. Because they are loved, heard, and cared for by their Sister Chicks. This is my Why…. knowing that I can bring this to at least 1 other woman, 10 other women, 1000’s of women, knowing that I could possibly be helping millions of Chicks…..  find love, growth, support, and celebration…..

Well, that is the Why that makes me Cry….

Jewels Muller HeadshotMuch love to all of you and thank you for reading my Why…

How to Make the Most of your Membership

Jewels Muller HeadshotHow to Make the Most of Your Membership

When you join a membership it’s imperative to find a way to make the most of your membership. When you spend money on something, you need to do so with a business mindset of how much your return on investment will be, and how you will ensure that you do get that ROI you believed you would get.

* Join the Right Membership – Joining just any membership is not going to work to help you expand your business or your knowledge. You need to be choosy about which memberships you join based on the results that you want.

* Read the Materials Provided – Every membership provides some sort of welcome material, plus a newsletter of some kind. Make sure that you read all the information, because you never know when an opportunity will occur that you want to take advantage of.

* Take Advantage of Any Opportunities – Often members and the group will have opportunities that enable you to show what you can do. Even if you have to do some things free or for a discount, it can help you get the word out. Go to educational events; even if you know the information, you never know what can happen.

* Volunteer – When you join a group you need to be willing to volunteer your time toward the efforts of the group. This is why it’s imperative that it’s the right membership so that their goals align with your own values and goals. Take the time to join in with the group and do your time as leader, or host, or take part in the charity work that the membership does.

* Get Involved – Outside of volunteering, when you show up at a meeting, offer your thoughts and opinions. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and get involved, because there are likely other people who are thinking about the same things you bring up.

* Go to Every Meeting – Of course things happen, but it’s important to make the time to go to the meetings because that’s where the relationship building happens. Sure, it’s nice to get a link back to your website as a member, but without the relationships to back it up, it’s not going to do very much good.

* Get Prepared before You Go – You want to appear professional at every meeting and interaction with the members of the group. This is how they will judge you in terms of wanting to work with you or recommend you to someone else. Keep in mind that even if the members who show up aren’t the right clients for you, they may know the right clients for you. Set a good impression from day one.

* Give Out Marketing Materials – Get a professional business card made, and even a brochure if it’s relevant to your business. For example, if you’re a graphic designer, you might want some examples of how awesome you are in your brochure.

Chicks_round_logoMemberships are wonderful ways to network with potential new clients and get referrals to new clients, as well as a great way to learn new skills. But, you must choose the right membership to join, and make an effort as an active member to reach your goals.

Linking Methods for Affiliate Marketing Programs

Linking Methods for Affiliate Marketing Programs

If you’re a small business owner, an affiliate marketing program is a fantastic opportunity to make a lot of money without having to have a lot of capital or overhead costs. If you have a web page, affiliate marketing is a great way to make quick cash without adding a lot of extra work.

But just because you find a popular webpage to promote your product or the right product to promote on your page, doesn’t mean it’s going to work. In affiliate marketing, it’s all about the link. The kind of link you use and what you link to are going to make all the difference.

Here are the most common methods of linking for affiliate programs:

*Text links. These are a good way to put links on your site because they stand out, but at the same time, still look natural and don’t have the appearance of an ad. When you have a related word in your text, like Women Mastermind Group, just embed a link in the word to a product or website. But if you overload your text with links, it will become unreadable or just annoying.

*Banner Links. These are ads that are usually at the top or side of the page. They can be plain, but are often catchy to try to get the attention of the reader. If you are an Amazon Affiliate you can post Text Links and/or Banner Links like this…

Just remember that people who surf the internet a lot see hundreds of banners in a day and ignore pretty much all of them. If you’re going to make advertisement banners, make something that’s going to stand out and get you noticed. The more clever and unique, the better.

*Search Box. Most people are familiar with search boxes embedded in a website that will do a Google or Yahoo search of the web. You can embed search boxes that will do this type of search, but search a marketer’s webpage instead of the whole internet. That way people can search an affiliate marketer’s website, sometimes without even knowing it. And they can find exactly what they’re looking for, even if the marketer has thousands of products.

Just because they’re linking to an affiliate marketer, doesn’t mean all links are the same. The link depends on what the affiliate and the vendor want. Here are the most common options:

Website main page. This is better if you’re selling services or simply looking for business connections rather than selling specific products.

Specific product. This is a good idea if you have one product that is expected to make high sales and pertains directly to the website it’s linked from.

Vendor Storefront. If a vendor sells a variety of related products, this is a great idea. If there is more variety in the products, you may be better off using a search box instead of a direct link.

Just remember that links aren’t everything; you still need quality products and a popular webpage to make money on sales.

Jewels Muller ~ Weekly Schedule

IMG_20131008_152731_353

Jewels Muller ~ Weekly Schedule

I have started a schedule where I am blocking my days and my times to help me focus and stay productive. In case you are interested here is what I am doing. This is in complete DRAFT form as I am working through the process and I want to make sure that I am focusing on what is important in my life and business. Of course there are other things that happen on each of these days; meetings, coaching clients, calls, interviews, etc but if I find myself getting off task I will open up the file folder for that day and work on those projects. So far so good.

Monday Marketing and Promotion ~

On Mondays I look at what I am promoting for the week and I make sure that I have everything necessary to move forward. Logos, copy, links, etc. I also see who I need to promote. Once I get proficient at this process I will also be able to schedule my posts ahead of time throughout the week using Hootsuite ~ a dashboard for all of your social media posts. I am at a level 1 so far. (Level 4 is the ability to do it all without thinking, quickly and effortlessly. I think level 4 will be me delegating it too. Tee Hee).

Tuesday Money Matters ~

On Tuesdays I do my accounting and anything that has to do with banking and money. I take a look at each of my money making businesses and update my plan of action for each business. I am currently up to date with all of my accounting and am happy to say that I will be completely prepared for the Accountant on Dec. 31, 2013 for my taxes. I am still a level 1 at this because I am just NOW taking an interest in profit and loss and balance sheets. I have a lot to learn and I am excited to learn how to grow my businesses and to create lasting wealth for my family.

Wednesday Writing ~

On Wednesdays I focus on writing! I write my Chicks Connect Activity for the following week, I spend time thinking and writing my next Kindle book (I have published 2 so far), I look through the HARO inquiries and respond to the ones that I am qualified, I am working on daily Blog writing but will make sure to at least do Blogs once a week on Wednesdays. I write Intern recommendations and any other testimonials on this day. I believe that I am at a level 1 here as well because I am just starting this process.

Thursday Newsletter and Communications ~

On Thursdays I write my Chicks Connect Newsletter and my intention is to start publishing my Jewels Muller Newsletter as well. I may create both on the same day but I may send out the Jewels Muller Newsletter on a different day. I start this day with the Chicks Connect Elite Mastermind Support Network on Google Hangout.  This group is dedicated to creating a space for our Chair Chicks to join together and support one another with their Chapter, Business and personal life. I also reach out to potential Joint Venture partners, Affiliate partners, and potential Experts for interviews. I am a level 3 with the Chicks Connect Newsletter but only a level 1 with all of the other tasks on this day.

Friday Relationships ~

On Fridays I mail out our Chicks Connect weekly personal and professional growth and development activity. I look over the communications for the week and send out Cards through my SendOutCards program to those people who are new to the membership, visiting members, Expert interviewees, People who need love and hugs, and a variety of other reasons to connect and build relationships. I spend time thinking of my relationship with myself, my children, my husband, my extended family, my Chicks Connect Community, my mentors, and my extended network. My life is built on my relationships and my gift is connection. It is important that I honor this gift and share it with others. I am at a level 2 in this area and I know that I have the ability to do so much more once I create some systems and routines for success.

Saturday Family Fun ~

On Saturdays I spend extra time discovering fun activities that we can do as a family. I willingly participate in fun activities even if I don’t find them particularly fun.  Hahaha. I have 12 year old boys remember? I am currently at a level 1 with a lot of room for growth!

Sunday Spirituality  and Service ~

On Sundays I spend my time at our new Church Living Stones. I am also finding out how I may be of service in this community of Reno and I believe that the church will have many options for our family to be involved in giving back to the community through service. I am definitely a level 1 spiritual being. I am just a baby but very willing to grow, learn and serve.

Weekly Finished ~

I simply use this file to put all of the finished files into once I am completed the project or promotion.

So as you can see, I am a newbie… a beginner… always learning always growing. I hope you have found a nugget or some inspiration to create your own schedule! Remember that there are a ton of other things that happen on any one day, but I always have the structure to fall back on if I find myself distracted by Social Media or email. Productivity FIRST!

All my best to YOU!

Hugs,
